Child rapists can't be executed, Supreme Court rules

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled 5-4 Wednesday that child rapists cannot be executed, concluding capital punishment is reserved for murderers.
Read the rest of the story here.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. Intellectually, I agree that capital punishment should be reserved for murderers - the whole, eye for an eye thing and upholding the Constitutional prohibition against cruel & unusual punishment. However, instinctively, it is hard for me to believe that, short of executing child rapists (or pretty much rapists in general) there is really no way to guarantee that they will never be released into society *at some point*, and a release into society will certainly lead to repeated attacks because I am a firm believer that there is no rehabilitation for just plain *evil* people like that.

I can also understand the argument that having the same consequence of the death penalty for both rape and murder removes any incentive for an attacker to leave a rape victim alive. But, seriously, how many rapists are really thinking about that during an attack? "Well, if I leave her alive she might be able to identify me but, hey, at least I can't get the death penalty for this."

Wow, I can't believe I might actually be in support of an Alioto/Scalia/Thomas/Roberts opinion. The world MUST be coming to an end ...

Episode 008 - The Episode That Didn't Want To Be Aired

Okay, folks. Here it is. The next (once again) long overdue episode of Hypersensitive! I had a lot of problems with this episode - I lost the edited version of the episode not once but TWO times thanks to the combination of Audacity and my craptop computer, and then had problems uploading to my FTP once the episode was finally "in the can." It's really long (about 1:45:00 or so), but I guess I just had a lot of stuff I wanted to tell you guys about. Since it's so long, I've included the time stamps for the beginning of each segment so you can feel free to skip ahead if you want. Here's to hoping I have less problems producing the next episode. Murder at Avedon Hill - Live Streaming Event

P.G. Holyfield, author of one of my favorite podcast novels, Murder at Avedon Hill, will be performing a live reading of the next chapter of the book (Ch. 23) at 10:00 PM (EST) Sunday, June 15th, which you can view via live streaming video on the Murder at Avedon Hill website or via the MaAH page at UStream Video.

Even if you’ve never listened to Murder at Avedon Hill before, I highly suggest you check out this event. P.G. will have an awesome summary of the story so far to get you up to speed so that you can enjoy the chapter as he reads it live.

Listen to the promo below and then visit http://www.pgholyfield.com/maah/archives/205 for full details.

Couch Surfing

If you want to hear more of me while you eagerly await the (hopefully soon!) release of Episode 8 of Hypersensitive, go check out the most recent episode (Ep 16) of John Pavlich's Couch Surfing. I co-hosted this episode and had the honor of being the first female Couch Surfing co-host - so, Go Go Girl Power!

If you haven't checked it out, Couch Surfing is an awesome podcast similar to Hypersensitive except that it's more of a discussion of pop culture rather than just me talking to myself. It's one of my favorite podcasts out there right now, and I highly recommend it. If you do give it a listen, leave a comment over there to let John know what you think - and, of course, leave a comment here to let ME know what you think. Enjoy!

Spoiler Nation

Entertainment Weekly.com has a really good article about how the prevalance of spoilers is changing the way movies and TV shows get made. Very interesting read. You can find it HERE.
